| The Chatham County Board of Commissioners developed a strict standard for watershed protection before statewide criteria were declared. Although Chatham County's ordinances were more stringent than the state standard, Chatham County officials decided to stick with their original plan and go the extra mile to protect their water sources. Chatham County's plan calls for extensive stream buffer requirements and limits development around water sources. | |||
